Long Bio:
Hailing from Lawrence, KS, The Newlyweds fuse blues, rock, and alternative sensibilities into a modern, melody-forward sound. Since forming in 2023, they’ve earned early momentum with a live set that’s equal parts tight and electric, powerful vocals, crisp lead lines, and rhythm section chemistry built for big rooms.
The band introduced themselves with a session at KJHK and quickly moved onto regional stages including The Bottleneck, Lucia, Replay Lounge, Jazzhaus, Artismo Bistro & Grill, and the Float Local Friday series at Clinton Lake Marina, where they performed for 600+ fans lakeside. Their recorded output includes the debut single “Girl From Glasgow” (2024) and the follow-up “21st (It Hurts)” (2025), signaling a sharper, heavier take on their blues-rock core.
The Newlyweds are Michael Leos (vocals, guitar), Ben Bloch (lead guitar), Halen Higgins (drums), and Matthew Woodward (bass). Onstage, they lean into dynamics, soulful verses, widescreen choruses, and guitar tones that snarl without losing their shine.
